Sr. HR Generalist 

Company: Maximus Partners, LLC
Location: Remote (U.S.)
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Position Overview

The Sr. HR Generalist will serve as the primary HR resource for the firm, responsible for overseeing day-to-day HR operations while helping leadership strengthen people, processes and infrastructure.

 

This individual will manage employee lifecycle activities including onboarding, benefits administration, policy development, employee relations, and performance management.

 

This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on HR professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where they can build scalable HR programs while supporting a collaborative remote workforce.

Key Responsibilities

HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle

  • Manage the full employee lifecycle including onboarding, offboarding, and transitions for both W-2 employees and independent contractors

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws across multiple states (including PA, NJ, DE, FL, and CO)

  • Maintain employee records, employment agreements, and HR documentation

  • Coordinate employee separations and terminations in alignment with company policy and applicable law

 

Benefits & PEO Management

  • Provide leadership and support for changes in benefits and/or benefit providers

  • Serve as the primary administrator and strategic oversight for employee benefits programs

  • Act as the main point of contact for our Professional Employer Organization (PEO) partner

  • Educate employees on benefits offerings and support enrollment processes

 

Policy Development & Compliance

  • Regularly review and update the company handbook

  • Ensure labor law posting compliance and maintain required HR policies

  • Develop scalable policies and processes appropriate for a growing professional services firm

 

Performance & Talent Management

  • Partner with leadership to ensure an appropriate and thoughtful performance evaluation and bonus process

  • Support leadership with performance management conversations and documentation

  • Provide guidance on employee development and organizational effectiveness

 

HR Communication & Culture

  • Maintain the internal HR resource hub

  • Communicate HR updates, policies, and employee resources to the organization

  • Serve as the internal HR resource for employee questions and support

 

Recruiting Support

  • Coordinate hiring processes when needed

  • Manage administrative recruiting tasks including offer letters, onboarding documentation, and background checks

Qualifications

Required

  • 7-10 years of progressive HR experience in a generalist or HR business partner role

  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR compliance across multiple states

  • Experience managing benefits programs and working with PEO providers

  • Experience drafting or updating employee handbooks and HR policies

  • Ability to work independently as the primary HR resource for a growing organization

 

Preferred

  • Experience supporting a fully remote workforce

  • Experience with professional services, consulting, or advisory firms

  • Experience implementing or redesigning performance management processes

  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR)
